Will your child start reception in September 2026?

For prospective families whose children will start Reception in September 2026, you can book on a small-group or 1-1 tour of the school and we'll be delighted to show you round and talk to you about everything our school offers. These can be arranged by telephoning the school office on 01904 400366 or emailing the school office on stocktononforest.primary@york.gov.uk

Admissions to Stockton on the Forest Primary School, including “in-year applications”, are dealt with by the admissions team at the City of York, as the admissions authority for our school.

• the PAN (Planned Admission Number) for Stockton on the Forest Primary School for September 2026 is 15.

You should apply for your child to start primary or infant school in the school year your child turns 4.

Applications for a place in Reception starting in September 2026 opened on the 12th September 2025. Please note that applying early does not give any priority, although to have the best chance of your application being successful you should complete and submit your application by the deadline which is the 15th January 2026.

Late applications can be made after this date, but may be dealt with after all the other applications that were received on or before the application deadline which means you will stand less chance of getting your preferred school. National Offer Day is in April.

Applications for entry into reception can be made by using the online form to apply for a school place. If you can’t apply online you can request a paper Primary Application Form by calling 01904 551 554.

Key Dates for Admissions to Reception 2026

• 12 September 2025 - opening date for applications
• 15 January 2026 - deadline for 'on time' applications
• 16 April 2026 (or next working day) - National Offer Day
• 15 May 2026 - deadline for return of appeal forms if appealing
• 8 June 2026 - appeals planned to start
• 17 July 2026 - appeals planned to finish

In line with the School Admissions Code 2021, City of York Council hold a coordinated admission consultation on behalf of schools within York and the School Admission Authorities. Where a school is part of a Multi Academy Trust, the Trust is the Admission Authority and not City of York Council.
