Happy, Healthy, Learning for Life and Caring for All
Welcome to our Outdoor Learning page!
We are very lucky at Stockton to have a wide range of green spaces that we use. We have the wildlife area, the allotment, our forest learning area and a big playing field.
At our school, outdoor learning is an integral part of everyday life. We believe that learning beyond the classroom enriches children’s experiences, supports wellbeing, and brings learning to life in meaningful and memorable ways.
All children take part in planned outdoor learning sessions at least once every half term, giving them regular opportunities to explore, investigate, and learn in our natural environment. In addition, many subjects are frequently taught outdoors, making full use of our green spaces to enhance learning in science, geography, art, and English, particularly creative writing.
Our popular Eco Club provides pupils with further opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of sustainability, environmental responsibility, and care for the natural world. Through hands-on activities, children learn the importance of protecting and improving their environment while developing teamwork and leadership skills.
We place a strong emphasis on respect for our outdoor areas. Pupils are taught to care for and value these spaces, and this ethos is reflected in the thoughtfully developed activities available during break and lunchtime. These opportunities encourage active play, creativity, and positive social interactions, ensuring our outdoor environment is both engaging and well cared for.
Through our commitment to outdoor learning, we aim to inspire curiosity, foster a love of nature, and support the holistic development of every child.
