Willows

Willows class

Willows Class is a Year 1/2 class taught by Mr Mckenna (Mon-Tues) and Miss Evans (Wed-Fri). Willows class is supported by Mrs Ellis.

Spring 1

This half term Willows class theme is Safari! We have been on a Safari around school and spotted lots of animals. The children will be making informative leaflets about these animals and working collaboratively to produce some creative writing. In geography we are looking at Kenya, different cultures and the differences between where we live and how people live in Kenya. In P.E it is dance, sticking to our theme we are looking at The Lion king musical and taking inspiration from it to create our own animal dances. In science we are looking at animals, delving into what they eat and their habitats. In our cojo lessons we are looking at Steve Backshall and completing safari missions. Finally, in computing the children are looking at how we use sound on computers. Along side all of this we are also making the most of our green spaces by taking every opportunity to take our lessons outdoors, even in the cold weather!

Autumn 2

This half term's theme is Toys. We will use different sources to learn more about new and old toys and compare them. We will write a range of non-fiction texts based on the theme of toys. We will also use videos of toys as a stimulus for our writing. As we get closer to Christmas we will be writing letters to Santa and writing about our experience in the class nativity!

The children have been exploring the Wildlife area this term as we do lots of outdoor learning.

The children enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and talking all things pumpkin.

The children also tried the pumpkin and pumpkin seeds. It got mixed reviews!
